Betty Boop

Full disclosure: I was there 9 years ago. But while pondering another trip back to my favorite place in the world, I noticed Betty Boop had only one review, and had to contribute my memories. Betty Boop was the first coffeeshop I visited, on my second trip to Amsterdam (I was a weeee bit too young the first time...or at least since I was with my family...) At any rate, it was right across the street from our hotel in January '03, and so naturally, immediately after checking-in, we walked right over and were welcomed by a relaxed vibe, a decent selection of herb and hash, and dirt-cheap internet access. I got to check in with my mom while getting my first taste (well, legally obtained first taste...but that's another, grosser story...)of some of Amsterdam's offerings. That was interesting. Over the next few days, my friends and I stopped back by the Boop for wake-and-bakes and nightcaps, but mostly for the super-friendly staff and the amazing milkshakes. Oh my god, the milkshakes. So good, with or without your choice of hash or herb. I'd recommend some good dark hash with vanilla. So good. I'll definitely be back on my next visit, especially since my soon-to-be-fiancee happens to have a Betty Boop tattoo on her calf. Coincidence?
